He was a charter member and past commander of the Edgewater American Legion Post and was a member of the Edgewater Friends of the Library, the Robert Burns Club, Smyrna Yacht Club, Vermont-New Hampshire Club and the Gorman Court Association, all in southeast Volusia County.
