Mrs Agnew, 68, was the former Sara Thomas. She was born and reared in Newburgh and was the daughter of Richard and Jane Thomas, both of whom were of early families there.

Miss Frances Carman, formerly of this city, was married on Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock to Mr. Robert James Agnew, USNR, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Agnew of Youngstown, Ohio. Calla lillies ferns and palms decorated St Mark's Episcopal church at Berkeley Springs, W. Va., where the Rev. Temple Wheeler performed the double ring ceremony. Preceding the service, there was an organ recital by Miss Arlene Davidson. Given in marriage by her father, Mr. C. Ford Carman, the bride wore a simple gown of white satin that had a small lace collar. Her tulle veil extended into a long train and she carried a bouquet of valley lillies and orchids. Ruffled gowns of yellow marquisette were worn by the two bridesmaids, Miss Phoebe Carman and Miss Jane Carman, sisters of the bride. They carried bouquets of yellow daisies and pink roses and wore small halo hats fashioned of the same material as their dresses. Similarly dressed in turqouise marquisette were the two Junior bridesmaids, Miss Mary Alice Robertson and Miss Anne Robertson of Cincinnati, Ohio, cousins of the bride. The ushers were Sidney S. Bradford, of Hagerstown, John P. Caspar and Robert McCandlish, of Hancock, and Beals Bloomer, of Washington, D. C. At the informal reception held at "Pendleton Hill," the home of the bride's parents at Berkeley Springs punch was served by Mrs. John P Caspar. Among the Hagerstown guests attending were: Mesdames J. C. Byron, William T. Hamilton Palmer Tennant, J. Earl Kohler and C. C. Seaman; Dr. and Mrs. M. W Dutton, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney S Bradford and Miss Marguerite A Campbell. After a trip to New York City the couple will reside in Chatham Mass., where Mr. Agnew is on duty at the Naval radio station. For traveling, Mrs. Agnew wore a brown crepe dress with white accessories and a white orchid."

She was the wife of the late Robert Agnew, the former dean of the Univ. of Pittsburgh School of Business. After Renee' graduated from the Univ. of Michigan she became secretary at the American Embassy in Prague. She then returned to the United States where she became secretary to Israeli Ambassador, Abba Eban in Washington DC. Finally, she became a Foreign Student Advisor at the Univ. of Pittsburgh where she also taught in the School of Business Masters Degree program. "Mrs. Jean W. Miller of 902 E. 7th St., Pomona, passed away in Pomona Valley Community Hospital Tuesday evening, at 10:25 o'clock, following a long period of failing health.
Mrs. Miller was born March 14, 1888, in Chicago, Ill. She came to California in 1916, from Chicago, and has made her home in Pomona for the last 23 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and belonged to the Women's Relief Corps.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a son, Sam Lepper of Pomona; a stepson, Mel Miller of Lake Tahoe; and a brother, John Agnew of Los Angeles. There also are three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Todd Memorial North Chapel Friday morning at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Thomas R. Marshall, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Entombment will be made in Pomona Mausoleum, The Women's Relief Corps will conduct its ritual in the mausoleum."

William J. Miller died at 12:30 o'clock this afternoon at the family home, 902 E. 7th street, Pomona, after a long illness.
Mr. Miller was born in Scotland, Pa, September 3. 1872. He came to California in 1906, and resided in Los Angeles before coming to Pomona in 1927. He had made his home here since that time.
He had been a member of the Modern Woodmen of America for 38 years, and was a long-time member of the Pomona post.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jean Miller: a son, Mr. Melville G. Miller of Alhambra; a step-son, Mr. Samuel Lepper, of Honolulu; and a granddaughter. Dorris Mae Miller of Oakland, and three brothers and three sisters in the east.
Funeral services will be held in the Todd & Reeves chapel. Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Bertram A. Warren, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be in San Gabriel cemetery."

Arbroath Town Council today appointed Mr Archibald D. Glendinning, at present senior assistant in the accounting section of the City Chamberlain's Department of Edinburgh Corporation, to the post of town chamberlain, collector of rates, and housing factor at a salary of £650 per annum.
Mr Glendinning was one of a short leet of four candidates interviewed by the Council. The other members of the leet were Messrs. William B. Morice, Rutherglen; Alexander McKillop, Glasgow; and Arthur A. Watt, Aberdeen.
Mr Glendinning has been in the service of Edinburgh Corporation since 1917 and has had extensive experience in the various sections of the city chamberlain's office.
He has been an associate of the Society of Incorporated Accountants and Auditors since 1927. He has been connected with the Edinburgh War Savings movement, and is at present treasurer of Broughton Place Church."

Former Orkney and Garioch minister, the Rev George Parkinson died yesterday in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He was in his mid-40s.
A son of the manse, Mr Parkinson was minister at East Church, Kirkwall for 10 years before moving to Chapel fo Garioch Church in 1971. He resigned his charge there two years later.
Mr Parkinson was an M.A. honours music graduate of Aberdeen University and B.D. graduate of Trinity College Glasgow University."
