MARKWORT—HURKETT
In a graceful gown of white georgette, Miss Elsie Hurkett said "I will" at St. John's Church of England, Forbes, on Wednesday afternoon, to Mr. Les Markwort.
The bride's dress featured the peacock back, and had long sleeves. A buckle of diamante added a dainty finish at the front of the waistline, and she wore a long necklet of beautiful crystal beads. Her veil of embroidered tulle was banded with orange blossom and a swathe of silver, and her arms were filled with white roses and fern, poised in tulle.
The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hurkett, of Forbes, and the bridegroom is the son of Mrs. A. B. Shead, of Forbes, and the late Mr. Markwort.
Rev. Frank Weston performed the ceremony.
Miss Alley Hurkett attended as sole bridesmaid. Her pretty frock of nil green georgette was made with a flared skirt, and had a becoming cape at the back. A hat of the same shade in green silk visca, and a sheaf of pink roses and fern, tied with tulle, completed her toilette.
Mr. Cyril Markwort was best man.
At the reception, held at the home of Mrs. W. Hurkett, the bride's mother received about 40 guests. Her frock was of black crepe-de-chine, and her hat matched.
The bridegroom's mother wore a smart coat of cinnamon, stitched with brown, over her beige dress, and a black hat with Oriental trimmings.
Later, the newly-weds left for Sydney, where the honeymoon is being spent. For travelling, Mrs. Markwort was attired in flora chiffon and hat to tone."

1Newspaper Obituary, Forbes Times Tues 6 Jan 1920.
"After a trying illness extending over 12 months, the death of Mr George Shead of South Condobolin Road, Forbes, occurred in the local district Hospital at 8 pm on Thursday evening last. About a month ago deceased had been thrown from his sulky, the serious nature of his injuries resulting in a necessary operation. For a while, the patient improved but the effects of the accident gave him no chance of returning to his normal life. As late as last November, deceased, accompanied by his wife, sought medical aid in Sydney, only to find his case was serious and beyond human aid. Following an attack of paralysis on Tuesday last the patient lingered until death came as a happy relief. The late Mr Shead was a native of Beechworth, Victoria and was 53 years of age, 30 of which had been industriously spent on the Lachlan River near Fitzgerald Bridge where he acquired a comfortable home and nice property. He leaves behind a widow and one son. The funeral was on Friday to the Presbyterian portion of the cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the widow."
