"Melancholy Death - Mr James Glendinning, shepherd to Colonel Borthwick, Georgefield, was returning home from Langholm Fair on the 6th inst., and from some cause or other lost his way, and fell into the Esk, within the parish of Westerkirk, and was carried down. His remains were discovered on Friday, washed out below Longtown."

This is a late entry in OPR and not in date order. Her death notice in paper says died in Nov 1855 aged 19 months, so born Mar 1854 not 1853. This later birth also removes the problem of being born too close in date to her older brother.
