"Former Claresholm Resident Dies in Calgary.
Following a brief illness Mrs. William M. (Isabella) Ames, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ivan Helmer, at Calgary. Mrs. Ames came to Canada 90 years ago from her birthplace Galashields, Selkirkshire, Scotland, to Ontario and in 1910 came to Milestone, Sask., where she and her husband farmed until 1912 when they moved to Claresholm, Alta. They took up farming in that district until 1919 when they moved to Balzac. "Early Alberta Resident Dies
A resident in Canada for 90 years, Mrs. Isabella Ames, 92, died Saturday in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She had lived at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ivan Helmer, 136 8th Ave. N.W.
Born In Galashields, Selkirkshire, Scotland, she came to Canada as a small child with her parents, settling in Ontario. In 1910 she moved to Milestone, Sask., where she and her husband farmed until 1912. They farmed at Claresholm from 1912 until 1919, and then moved to Balzac.
Her husband died at Balzac in 1930, and since that time, Mrs. Ames had lived in Calgary. She was a member of Crescent Heights United church.
Surviving are three sons, John, Balzac: Charles, Milestone; William, Meeting Creek; a daughter, Mrs. E. S. Nichol. Bonanza, Alberta; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Rev. H. C. Burkholder will conduct services from the Park Memorial chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m., with burial following in the family plot, Burnsland cemetery."
