John Douglas with a home in Mobile and Fairhope passed away Saturday, February the 5th, and funeral services were held from the family residence, Flo Claire, Mobile, Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, and interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Douglas and family were among the first Mobilians to spend the summer in Fairhope, purchasing property on Fels Ave., which they have occupied every summer, coming over early and staying late. Their many friends here will sympatise with Mrs Douglas in her great sorrow, and hope this will not alter her plans."

Bride Is Talented Musician, Having Studied Abroad - Groom Lives in Mobile.
The marriage of Miss Estelle Sorgenfrey. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Sorgenfrey, to John Andrews Douglas. of Mobile, Ala., was solemnized yesterday morning at 11 o'clock in the Patten Memorial chapel of the University of Chattanooga, The Rev. David E. Holt. rector of the Grace Memorial church, officiated.
The church was artistically decorated with palms and ferns. The altar was massed with greenery. Three tall baskets of asters and dahlias in pastel shades were placed near the chancel Tail.
Miss Ruth Stivers, organist, and Norman Ferguson, vocalist, were in charge of the nuptial music. While the guests assembled Miss Stivers rendered the following program: "Invocation" (Gounod), “Legend" (Rimmerman), “Serenade” (Moszkowski) and "Bridal Song" (Goldmark). Preceding the entrance of the bridal party Mr. Ferguson sang "At Dawning," by Cadman. “Bridal Chorus," from Lohengrin, was used as the processional and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" as the processional. During the ceremony, Schubert's "Serenade" was played softly,
The bride had as her only attendant Miss Eleanor Gilliam, of Lockesburg. Ark., who was maid of honor. Best man to the groom was his brother, Poetz Douglas, Ushers were Edward Owen and Charles Kelley.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a becoming costume of deep green satin crepe fashioned with a tiered skirt and trimmed with a fischu of ecru lace. Her hat was of a corresponding shade of green felt with tan trimmings. She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and lilies of the valley.
The maid of honor wore a gown of tan georgette. Her flowers were an arm bouquet of pink roses and pastel shaded asters.
Following the wedding, a breakfast was held in the greenroom of the Read house when twenty-two guests were present. The bridal table was centered with a crystal bowl of asters. The favors were miniature brides arranged on the place cards.
Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas, Miss Gilliam, Poetz Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. John Douglas, parents of the groom; Mrs. R. C. Jones, of Florida; Miss Margaret Douglas, of Mobile; Mrs. R. T. Stanfiel, of Cleveland; Miss Ruth Stivers, Mr. and Mrs, E. A. Owen, Miss Marie Kelley, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kelley, Charles Kelley, Edward Owen, David Hope, and Mr. and Mrs. Sorgenfrey.
Since the announcement of her approaching marriage, Mrs. Douglas has been the recipient of many courtesies. She is the talented daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sorgenfrey. She studied abroad and, on her return to the states, taught music for a year in New York."

The death occurred yesterday at his home at 18 Queen's Gardens, St Andrews, of Dr Charles Edward Douglas, T.D., LL.D., M.D., F.R.C.S.E.
Dr Douglas was born in India on December 29, 1855, and was the son of the late Col. Walter Douglas, Madras Staff Corps. He was educated at the Collegiate School and University of Edinburgh, and in his student days took keen interest in sport, distinguishing himself as an athlete. After working in hospitals in Edinburgh and abroad for three years, Dr Douglas went to Cupar, where for 47 years he was in medical practice, being M.O.H. in the town for 40 years. He was founder and for 45 years secretary of Fife County Medical Association, while he had been a member of Council of the B.M.A. for 12 years and served on many of its committees.
Dr Douglas, an enthusiastic volunteer, served in two wars, and held the rank of Lieut.-Colonel. In the Boer War he was attached as M.O. to the 1st Batt. Worcestershre Regiment, and in the Great War he served at the 51st (Highland) Division headquarters and was in command of a casualty station.
On his retirement in 1927, when he celebrated the jubilee of his entry on general practice, Dr Douglas received the degree of LL.D. from Edinburgh University. He went to reside in St Andrews, where he took a deep interest in the history of the town. He was local sectretary of the Overseas League, and was clerk of the vestry of St Andrew's Episcopal Church for some years. His wife died four years ago, and he is survived by two daughters, one of whom is in practice as a doctor in St Andrews."
