"When riding home from Wooler Mart on Friday, Adam Glendinning, farm worker, Langleeford, Wooler, was thrown or fell from his horse, owing to the bit of the bridle breaking. The horse returned home by itself, and arrived about 10 p.m. Search was made for the missing rider until about 3 o'clock in the morning, but only the broken bridle and the rider's cap and stick were discovered. On the search party breaking up, one of the number, Ninian Glendinning, found his brother had returned home, and was in bed suffering from injuries to the right side of his face.
