"John Hendry Gowanlock, 53, of 4015 Victoria Drive, died in Vancouver General Hospital Wednesday 1:00 pm. Was in critical condition with a fractured skull and injured leg, having been knocked down by an auto Tuesday at 8:55 p.m at Victoria Drive and Kingsway, allegedly driven by Harvie Crawley 3805 Wales Road. Was rushed to the hospital in a Kearney Company ambulance.
He was born in Ontario and had lived in this province for 14 years. He was a member of the Elks and also of the Canadian Order of Foresters (Court Mount View No. 369)
Two sons survive - James of Chilliwack and Brooks of Vancouver; also two daughters - Mrs. A.C. O'Neil, Mt. Vernon, Wash, and Florence Gowanlock at home.
The funeral service, on Saturday October 8 at 3 o'clock, will be conducted under the auspices of Lodge No. 55 B.T.O.E. in the Kingsway chapel of G.W. Hamilton with Rev. F. E. Runnalls officiating and interment in Ocean View."

"Mrs. Mary Gowanlock to Be Buried on Wednesday - Mrs. Mary Ann Gowanlock, aged 48, wife of J.H. Gowanlock, 4015 Victoria Drive, died Sunday at home. A native of Ontario, she came to BC twelve years ago. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons James of Chilliwack and Brooks in Vancouver, and two daughters Mrs. Arthur O'Neil of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Florence at home. Her mother Mrs. T. Brooks and two sisters Mrs. W. Doan of Vancouver and Mrs. C. Allcock of Saskatchewan also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in G.W. Hamilton's Kingsway chapel under auspices of Royal Purple Lodge No. 11. Mr. Robert Herbison will officiate and interment will be in Ocean View Burial Park."

"Fergus, July 30 - There passed away at his home on St. Andrews Street, Richard Charles Stait following a serious illness of only one week. Mr. Stait, who for the past 40 years has been an active member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, was born in Hamilton 77 years ago, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Stait. Early in life he tookup residence in Paisley, where he carried on a butcher business, coming to Fergus 25 years ago. He was married 50 years ago in Paisley to Christina Armstrong, by whom he is survived. A man of quiet life, Mr. Stait was a devout member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. He was an ardent Liberal supporter, and was keenly interested in sport, particularly lacrosse. Besides his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mrs. William Jefferson, Toronto; Mrs. Harold Robertson, Vancouver, B.C.; Miss Myrtle Stait, Fergus; Mrs. R.D. Kerr, Fergus; Mrs. W.K. Graham, Lion’sHead; and one son, Clarence, Toronto. One brother, Charles, Vancouver, and three sisters, Mrs. J. Barrie, Pelly, Sask.; Mrs. W.Rowlett, Chicago, and Mrs. A. Scott, Oak Park, Ill., survive."
