1Newspaper Announcement, Dumfries & Galloway Standard 8 Sep 1883.
"Death On the 5th inst., at Rigg, Kirkconnell, Mr William Lorimer."

2Newspaper Obituary, Ayr Advertiser Thurs 13 Sep 1883.
"NEW CUMNOCK.
THE LATE MR LORIMER, FARMER, RIGG. - We notice with sorrow the death of William Lorimer, farmer, Rigg, which sad event occurred on the night of Wednesday last at his own house. Although living over the “march," our parish had a considerable interest in him, he having sat in the Free Church here for several years; and the friendships he formed in this parish being both fast and memorous, the vacuum created by his demise is greater than ordinary. His moral excellencies and genial cheerful disposition rendered him the most delightful of companions and an enduring friend. Whatever bashfulness pertained to those who came in contact with him was at once dissipated by his sympathetic and kindly reception-all reserve on their part being disarmed and thrust aside by the sincere and loving outflow of his Christian sympathies. Having read much, his general intelligence was correspondingly great, which enabled him to appear brilliantly in discussion and conversational repartee. Caste - that great gulfmaker - found no resting place in his character, the most humble cottar receiving his kindly recognition and respect, while his superiors were accorded all honours with easy dignity and elegance of manner. He was an elder of the Free Church, Sanqahar, the members of which testify to his usefulness. He possessed great capacities as a musician, being far above the medium as a violinist; and was a principal promoter of Sanquhar new Hall. He also farmed with much intelligence, adopting the modes best suited to the upland locality in which he lived; but the most prominent feature of his character (and the one which secures him a niche in the memories of his compeers) was the perennial flow of kindness that gushed forth from his great heart towards his fellow creatures. Truly a beloved citizen hath fallen, And with him all those accomplishments so well adapted, and which he so successfully applied, to the sweetening of society. In politics he was a Liberal; but politics, in their common accepted sense, were below him, and were discarded in his every day intercourse with his fellow-men. The whole district mourns his loss, and sympathises with the sorrowing family in their sore bereavement; but, alas, the loss to them is irreparable."

1Newspaper Obituary, (Charlottetown Guardian - January 5 1914.
"Mrs. Joanna Millman - in memoriam
Joanna, widow of the late Thomas Millman, died at the home of her son Mr. James B. Millman, Eel Creek, on Saturday, Dec. 13th in the 85th year of her age, after a prolonged period of suffering. The late Mrs. Millman was a woman of a very religious and noble nature, and in her younger days took a very active part in every good work; being a particularly earnest member of St. Stephen’s Church, Irishtown, an excellent neighbor, a good friend to the poor and sick and one who wielded a splendid influence for good over the young people of the district, whom she never wearied of entertaining at her hospitable home. She had been a widow for many years, and suffered a great deal from rheumatism. About six years ago an accident deprived her of the use of her lower limbs, and shortly afterwards she became completely blind. Yet in all these weary years she never complained, bore her afflictions with a patient faith and resignation that was truly wonderful. Always a woman of deep faith, and a great believer in the power of prayer, she found in these strengths to carry her, even triumphantly through the darkness and pain in which she spent so many years. Almost to the last her mind retained its clearness and power, but finally a stroke of paralysis rendered her unconscious, and took her painlessly to her rest. Interment was at St. Stephen’s Church, Irishtown, on Dec. 15th, where the presence of great numbers of people bore eloquent testimony to the high regard in which she was held throughout the whole community."

Badger, of Kinley, conducted the funeral, interment taking place at Wheatfield cemetery. The deceased has been a resident of Juniata for the past 27 years, being one of the original pioneers of that district, coming there to homestead in 1903 from Palmerston, Ont., bringing with him his wife and sons. He was always an active worker and since the death of his wife three years ago has resided alone on his farm. He leaves two sons, Russell, of Juniata, and Robert, of Kelfield, Sask.
The pallbearers were Donald McMillan, Charles Moran, John Biernea, Norman Dingwall, Alex McMIlan, and Fred Dingwall, all of whom came out from Ontario at the same time as the deceased and homesteaded in the same district. Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which he was held."
